Thinking about how to deal with the supply of enough water and food for my daily walks has been one of the most difficult issues.
If for the water I tried to make a very detailed list of all the places where I can refill my water-bottles, about the food it has been a different problem.
During my trip I will take advantage of all the places where food can be found (bars, restaurants, hotels, grocery-stores…), but there is still the issue for those days when I will camp outside or for those stages where it will be more difficult to find any food supplies.
And the idea to carry more weight in my back-pack it was out of discussion…
At the beginning I was thinking to take with me a stove and lyophilised food, but at the end I decided to reduce even more the total weight, so I will chance and cook only when it will be possible to start a fire.
In any case, cooking will not be always possible and I need to have something extra with me which will feed me in any possible situation.
Something small, light and reliable.
So, searching on internet and by the advice of some others hikers and travellers, I discovered BIVO and its products “which provide to the organism the nutritional balance of the mediterranean diet”.
If lyophilised food need hot water, BIVO can be ready in 30 seconds which only 300 ml of fresh water and provides the body all what needed to keep going.
I contacted the company and I’ve been talking with Davide Bonetto, co-founder, who showed straight away the will to follow Wandering Italia and support me during my trip with the BIVO products.
I received a first supply of these products in the three different flavours (neutral, mango and coconut) which I could try during my training, finding them very good (I can not say which flavour I prefer and I think it’s good to have different options) and very reliable as ideal alternative to a normal meal (can easily replace breakfast, lunch or dinner) and useful in any emergency situations or just what I will need something quick to eat.
Every package (114 g) contains about 440 calories which are given for the 52% by carbohydrates, for the 17% by protein, for the 22% by fats and for the 9% by fibers, and contains even all the vitamins and mineral salts I will need.
It has been a very precious discovery and it solved one of my biggest problem with the possibility to have, in my backpack, a light and small complete food whenever and wherever I will need it.
And I’m happy and very thankful to Davide Bonetto and BIVO to be partner and to support me during WANDERING ITALIA.
